why we should not mourn The Silver Jews

Let me say first that I love David Berman of The Silver Jews, and author of critically-acclaimed Actual Air.  They’ve been around twenty years, he’s given us a beautiful beating of material.

Berman broke the news on the 22nd of this month that this project was coming to a close.

He’s what, 42 now?  So he doesn’t want to be in a band anymore.  Sure, its something to be bummed about.

But the man’s got dignity.  (and quite the dad.)
You can not take the saint outta a romantic.

Berman may have “quit” music. But he’s still a writer, a creator, a weaver or words.  You don’t just stop being that.

We’ll be seeing more of Burman, just not in the way we’re used to seeing.
